Dr. Eric Fields is a native New Yorker who is a licensed psychologist specializing in the treatment of addiction, compulsive substance use, and other behavioral dependencies. He earned his B.A. from Clemson University in South Carolina and completed his graduate studies in New York City, earning his Ed.M. from Columbia University and Psy.D. from St. John's University. Growing up in a suburban neighborhood, and going to college in the rural South as well as urban New York, has provided him with many diverse social, cultural, and educational experiences that have greatly enhanced his understanding of a wide variety of people.
Dr. Fields' work experience is equally diverse, spanning over two decades. He has worked in school systems, as an adjunct professor for a number of colleges, for well-established group practices, as well as his own reputable private practice. Aside from behavioral dependencies and addictions, he has a wealth of training in treating emotional disorders (i.e, anxiety, depression, chronic stress, anger control issues, etc.), career counseling, and resolving social and relationship problems. He believes that many psychological problems can be overcome without medication, but he can also help someone make an informed decision about whether or not they need to pursue this type of treatment as well. When he is not working with patients, he is eagerly spreading the good news about "harm reduction" and evidence-based treatments for addiction via podcasts, youtube videos, twitter, and facebook.
